A clueless man and a new gun campaign got me thinking about all the things we should never do for others.

David L. Santy Jr., 41, was busted for alleged murder for hire, according to a Tucson police news release.
He was reportedly looking for someone to kill a 38-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter because they are witnesses in a child molestation case against him.
Santy was allegedly willing to pay $2,000 for the hit. And he asked an undercover cop.
The new campaign, aimed at Tucson residents and visitors and developed by National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), comes complete with a billboard I spied on my recent drive through town.
It warns people they could get 10 years in prison for buying a firearm for someone who is prohibited from owning one.
That, too, seems like a no-brainer, just like we shouldn’t carry terrorists’ suitcases through the airport.
But then again, we would think it was obvious not to ask a cop to carry out a murder for hire plot.

Other things we should never do for (or unto) others:
*Buy minors cigarettes or alcohol
*Cut people’s hair while they’re sleeping
*Squash hopes, dreams and fantasies
*Be mean for the sake of being mean
*Bully folks into things they obviously don’t want to do
On a more serious note, kudos to the police for busting the accused child molester so he did not get away with killing off the witnesses. Do you think this will bolster the case against him?
Murder for hire is an especially cowardly crime, as the person is too chicken to even carryout the plan himself. It also puts life at one of the cheapest levels, as if a mother and daughter are only “worth” $2,000. Human life is priceless, even though it’s sometimes annoying.
Are there things you would never do for others?
What are they?
Mornin’ Rynski! Murder for hire? There is an old saying, “if you want something done right, do it yourself”. Evidently some people believe that having someone else do the crime will somehow absolve them of guilt an conscience. These people deserve the maximum penalty. PS-why the heck would someone buy a weapon for a felon anyway? Only thing I can think of would be to commit another felony.
Mornin’ RadMax! Twisted thinking on the part of the folks who think they are “not guilty” if they don’t do the murdering but simply hire someone to do it for them. Glad this guy mussed up by asking an undercover – he must not have known about the “look at their shoes” rule. As far as buying a gun for a felon, or others who are not legally able to own one, maybe they just need a gun to shoot quails for dinner or rabid jackrabbits? Why do you always assume the worst (haha).
Can’t knock ’em for wanting a quail dinner…more than likely a ‘San Quentin quail’ though.
PS-how’s your gun training coming along?
very well! my teacher is so awesome i want to hug him (haha)….will be blogging about it all soon….
That bone-headed move should get Santy Jr. an extra five-to-ten. It should also all but slam dunk the child molestation case against him, since innocent people do not need to have witnesses killed. I hope he’s molested during his stay in the gray bar hotel.
people agree to do straw gun purchases for the sa,e reason two legged trash holds up a liquor store …… money.
trying to contract a murder should get the death penalty. hang him.
I can always spot a creepy person by those loose-fitting table cloths they wear around their necks, it’s a dead give away.
hahhaah. I always thought it made them look like they were at the barber shop, waiting for a haircut.
Welcome back Rynski!
To quote Jim Croce:
“Don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, don’t pull the mask off the old Long Ranger and you don’t mess around with Slim ”
Violence never produces the outcome we think it will. – Eric
Thanks, eric! for the welcome back. thanks also for your musical quote that now has croce rambling through my head (hahah). Yes, violence has a way of taking on its own life, rarely paying heed to what was initially planned.
to idonyo and sechem – i agree santy deserves a fitting punishment. … i also think the gun campaign is a good way to remind people money is not worth the risk of a decade in prison for buying a gun for someone who is not legally able to own one…unless they want to think of the money they may get as “rent money” to pay for the cell…
REALLY stupid……AZ CPS was alerted to this guy as far back as 2005 or 2006. CPS never reported to the police a couple years ago when there was a different child molestation accusation against this guy.
I agree…innocent people don’t need witnesses killed because there was nothing to witness.
What is sad is the mom of his son felt David was safe to leave their son with him even after she was made aware of the molestation accusations and then the son was used to get the little girl to David’s house.
