Due to Sunday’s crappy weather, my ride along with the Pima County Sheriff’s mounted posse will be rescheduled in the near future.
The rain would have definitely wrecked the video – or at least the camera.
Since horses are on the mind, I did come up with a Nightmare painting (below) – and I will be writing about an exciting horse topic in my Friday column.

thanks for painting compliment. yeah, i was sorry ride was postponed, as well – but NOT sorry to avoid being out in the wet clammy rain. ever since i lived in oregon, rain tends to make me melt (my time in rainy oregon is also the reason i now live in tucson!).
oh dear, rainy, rainy Oregon. Ryn, I lived in Eugene and Springnfield for a season or two and I had to leave because I was hurting being without sunshine! I certainly think the beautiful weather in Arizona has me stay here.

i was in coastal brookings – and even the ocean view from my living room window, no less, couldn’t persuade me to stay in the rain.

That is a good painting Rynski, very well done! BTW-is that ‘Pegasus’ inspired? Looks as though Nightmare has wings. I really like this.
thanks, radmax. the painting was inspired, actually, by one of my friend’s shirts – she had an ornate horse on it and i wanted to see what it would look like if it were non-ornate.
i like your pegasus take on it – much more interesting than shirt inspiration, for sure – hahah

They are faring marvelously! I haven’t had a chance to hang them quite yet as I’ve had a family things to deal with (up until yesterday, I’ve been in Phoenix, yuck). Tonights the night they will get hung up!! 😀

By the way, I love the painting too and it does remind me of a Pegasus. It also replicates mosaic in my mind. Do you do any mosaic art Ryn? I just love mosaic and went through a period of making my own mosaic stepping stones for the yard. I bought cheap plates from a salvation army store and broke them. It was a fun summer project one year.

never tried mosaic – although wholly fascinated by it. the horse painting reminded me of one, too.
what’s the best adhesive to use? i would mosaic with rocks, metal, broken glass, etc. and all types of debris. i def. want to give it whirl!
bet your stepping stones are awesome.
I just troweled some grout onto a stepping stone, laid the broken pieces of plates on there and let that dry. Then I went back over it all with more grout, sponged them clean and once that was dry, put a little brush on shine lacquer stuff on them. They are probably about six years old now, so they’ve held up in the sun pretty well.
You should try it. t’s lots of fun! (I emailed a few pics to ya)
oh, your stepping stones are AWESOME! got the pix. they are so sweet. i will def give it a try, just regular grout like the bathtub stuff…how dandy. i think i even have a tube of it leaking in a cabinet somewhere – haha.
love it! az. with the pumpkin carving, the gingerbread house and the mosiac tiles, you’re a regular creative genius!
