We forgot to mention one more potential danger while hanging out in Mexico, one that a 30-year-old woman is suspected to be experiencing firsthand:
Kidnapping.
Lizeth Sillas, 30, was reported missing by her parents on Aug. 23, and so far the sheriff’s investigation indicates she may have been kidnapped while in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, according to a news release from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Friends and family have not heard from her since July 26, nearly a month ago.
The sheriff’s department notes the possible kidnapping may be “narcotics related.”
Lizeth is described as “a Hispanic female, approximately 5’9” tall and 125 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.”
Detectives urge anyone with information on her whereabouts to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
I saw this yesterday, after I commented on your piece on Mexico. Just another reason not to go down there.
i hear ya…
Growing up I had alot of great times in San Carlos, Rocky Point, and Nogales. My family “owns” plenty of beach property down there that I can stay at anytime, and you will never see me head that way again. …just not worth it.
She is pretty. Attractive young women are routinely kidnapped in Mexico to be used by the Cartels for “fun” and then disposed of. Many time the Mexican police are involved.
Insurgency
Civil War
Failed State
If these don’t scare you think of a scarier term to describe Mexico.
Attractive young women are routinely kidnapped in Mexico to be used by the Cartels for “fun” and then disposed of. Many time the Mexican police are involved.
Allegation: a noun; to assert without proof.
Marxist Cartoon head in the sand has never researched or heard of the numerous women kidnapped in Mexico? Waiting for insult or witty comeback.
Wait no more, farley. Yes, I have heard of kidnappings and they occur in many countries, including Mexico. How many in a “numerous”? How many in a “routinely”? Where is the proof that the kidnapping takes place so that the victims are “routinely” used for “fun”? Maybe it happens, but it should be clear that both you and anonymous are more interested in supporting your pre-existing beliefs than in the facts. What Mr. anonymous is trying to imply without offering proof and while maintaining deniability is that this sort of thing happens on a regular basis and, therefore, we need to consign all things Mexican to the “less-than” category.
If you haven’t heard, Andrew, they just found seventy-some bodies in Matamoros. It seems they are mostly Central American immigrants who were being held for ransom by somebody. I think that sould be enough to chew on for a while. This episode is even documented.
Was she involved in the drug trade??? Or kidnapped by Cartel etc types?? If she was involved in some way then what are we suppossed to do??/
i just went to hermosillo seen very many pretty women every where.,, was this girl involve in something ilegal??
