Anyone who has ever tried walking more than one dog – or even one stubborn dog – knows the task can be quite a challenge.
One Tucsonan was innovative enough to figure out how to walk six – without even breaking a sweat.
Crafty Abigail hooked up a tricycle, complete with a hook that accommodates six separate leashes, when summer treks got too hot to keep up with the half-dozen dogs.
Abigail was wary of the bicycle thing, as dogs like to dart away at the first glimpse of a rabbit or in front of the tires as their mood permits. Others, like Sawyer, will run along fine beside a bicycle until he suddenly decides he is going to sit – while I’m still pedaling.
But Abigail’s trike has been heavenly. Or as heavenly as it can be, as six dogs are quite a handful. They sometimes still get jumbled, but no one, namely Abigail, gets pulled down a gully or hauled off into the wash.
Two of the pooches belong to her daughters. One is looking for a new home.
“He’s spoiled,” she said of the dog that is up for adoption, a cute black and white little thing. “And he bites people. I gave him to my daughters and he bit four people in one week. They gave him back.”
Abigail said the puffy little doggie especially has a vendetta for men. The men who get bit, however, usually try to act manly and tough, she said, but there were a few who whined about it.
“The dog needs a home with someone who has no job and no life and can devote every second to him,” Abigail said.
In the meantime, the sextet runs along in glee into the Rillito River sunset.

What do you think?
Do you know anyone who has hooked up innovative things to suit their needs?
Have you ever tried bicycling with a dog? What about roller blading or skate boarding?
Have you seen others try it and fall on their noggins?

Enjoy the ride/Ryn Gargulinski
Oh gosh, the little ‘biter’ is a beautiful dog. I wish I could take him, but every one else that lives here (my son plus a relative with mental health issues, plus my older son when he visits) are male.
She looks cool on her bike. Like a female Dog Whisperer.
yes, the biter IS adorable…but as you said, with a house full of males, there’d be some blood on the floor…(haha).
abigail was great to chat with as well – glad to know such cool folks can be found if you just look!
There are cool peeps everywhere. I talk to anyone and everyone wherever I go. I love talking to strangers…or just the strange.
It’s breaking my heart!! Biter is so precious!
I have NO self control when it comes to animals……
AZMouse –
perhaps YOU are the one Biter is waiting for to change his life!
and i, too, enjoy talking to the strange (haha).
He’s just pulling at my heartstrings……do you know his actual name?
I think I could help him in his quest for happiness, and no more biting.
Haha! Mornin’ Rynski! Very innovative on Abigail’ s part. Cute pic of the little doggie resigned to having Sawyer bite off his head. 🙂
mornin radmax – yes, abigail’s dogs were fine with sawyer – but one of them, think it may have been the biter? – decided to walk underneath phoebe as phoebe was standing there looking very confused at all the little puff balls.
no blood was shed, but we got a good phoebe growl concert!
Haha, I love doggy chaos!! My mom has 3 large dogs, and whenever we have a family gathering at her house, everyone brings their dogs along too. Before you know it, there’s small to large dogs every where you look. Some whining at Grandma because they want treats, other’s sliming your legs with slobber. It’s madness, but it’s so much fun to play with them all in the back yard!
how fun all that doggy chaos sounds, jennatoolz! esp. when it’s in somebody ELSE’S backyard – haha. no really, that’s why dog parks are such fun when all the dogs get rambling around. it’s a giant canine party.
What the little biter needs is some professional help, not an apologist for his maladaptive behavior.
hahah! are you offering the professional help?
i’ll alert abigail when/if i see her again this evening!
Hi leftfield,
Missed you the last day or two. 🙂
Greetings – yes I’ve been out of town, gettin’ educated.
Glad you’re okay…I worry about my buddies when they aren’t on here like they’re suppose to be.
whew
AWW!! I totally wish I had the time to care for a pooch right now. I’d take on “the biter.” I could bring him to work with me, since I’m all alone in an office…but the boyfriend probably wouldn’t want to get bitten at home. And the fat Kitty probably wouldn’t enjoy an extra “puff ball” around, haha.
He’s so cute, isn’t he?!? My cats would whip him into shape. They are the bosses of the dogs and the house. lol
He’s adorable!!! My heart aches for these dogs that need homes, and I just want to bring them all home. 😛
Yeah, cute like Jeffrey Dahmer was cute.
No, cute like Gizmo (Gremlins) cute!
It’s killing me not to just get him and try to fix the biting issue.
All he needs is the Dog Whispererererrr. 😛
I love Caesar Millan….
ha! I don’t think jeffrey dahmer was cute at all. are you sure you’re not mixing him up with some other serial killer?
This story made me remember a dog I had when I was a kid. A chocolate lab named Jed. I lived in chilly New Mexico at the time, and my 2 siblings and I had a 3 person toboggan we often used when it snowed. Jed would take the rope and pull us around the yard, lol. It was such a blast, Jed was awesome. May he rest in piece. 🙂
jed sounds great. toboggans are great, too. we had one in michigan growing up – but no jed to pull us. just a cat that peed in the van.
When I was a city-slicker my two Great danes would pull me on a skateboard around the neighborhood and they would come back all lathered up from the pull, until I hit a rock in the sidewalk and broke my foot. But they pulled me home while I was laying down on the board and it took four months to recover from that, but that Lady has brakes on her ride.
be lunatics
dear be lunatics,
i love your broken foot story – what a pair of hero dogs – but how did you lie down on the skateboard? didn’t your head drag on the cement?
