People do the weirdest things – but don’t take it from us. Take it from the brothers who stole a hissing cockroach.

The cockroach pictures were too gross so we get a fish instead/Illustration Ryn Gargulinski
Or take it from Rhode Island Hospital, which recently reported 305 cases of patients eating strange objects – from pen parts to razor blades with toothbrushes in between.
Those stories and more are up this week on Rynski’s Shattered Reality radio show on Party934.com and FM 94.9 in Hudson Valley, N.Y.
Next show is Wednesday, Nov. 24 (today!) and every Wednesday online at Party934.com. Showtime is 1 p.m. in Arizona, 3 p.m. EST.
Party 934 is a radio alternative for listeners sick of stations that play one song followed by 500 commercials.
Songs that mention DREAMS are this weeks theme, along with our weekly polka fix and a goofy array of offbeat stories.
Thanks! to all who keep the song requests coming.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Sea urchins wrapped in seaweed with a raw quail egg on top, never again.
wow-eee, andrew farley, that one takes the (sea-urchin-raw-egg cake).
think mine was duck feet at a chinese new year celebration in nyc. those things look EXACTLY like they would taste – bland and rubbery.
“Bland and rubbery” reminds me that I ate barnacles in Spain once, where they are quite popular. Like a lot of the seafood in Spain, they just throw it in a pot and boil it whole, then throw it on a plate. Once you crack it open, there is just a tubular muscle inside that looks and tastes exactly like the eraser on the end of a pencil. When in Spain, stick to the paella.
hahahha – love the eraser comparison – those do taste pretty crummy. i think they were the reason i switched to chewing pens (haha).
Well, like most people I’ve eaten crow a couple of times. And does that ever leave a nasty taste in one’s mouth.
ha!
Oh, I’m sorry I missed this one. My choice would have been “In Dreams” by Roy Orbison. You remember, the song that was used in David Lynch’s movie “Blue Velvet”.
I hate to admit it, but I ate “Cuy” in Peru once, i.e. a guinea pig. Although the Peruvians consider it the best thing going, I almost threw up. The only thing missing is the hair, the rest of the poor little cavy is all there: feet, head, eyeballs, lungs, intestines, everything.
hey! you lucked out, leftfield (oh, and i dig your new avatar, btw).
DREAMS are again the theme for the next show AND i happen to have orbison’s tune on my playlist. yaay!
i really did not enjoy blue velvet – or any lynch flick for that matter. ick.
the biggest ICK, however, goes to eating guinea pig – esp. if it still looked like the little pet – man, don’t think i could do it. you have some guts, for sure!
I don’t like to think about it but in Ghana I think I ate some – well, here’s the story. I was in a little village, drinking some concoction that an elder had prepared and took a bite of something and asked “What is this?” There was no verbal answer but a man in the group of us looked in the air above a field where some vultures were hovering and nodded in a way that said that I was dining on a bit of buzzard. All I could do to maintain my composure and my sanity was immediately block the scene out of my mind – until our friend, Rynski, popped the question: “What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?” Thanks for the memory, Ryn.
hahahhahaha! so glad i could bring back such fine vulture-eating memories, ernie. hahahahah.
just keep in mind that shrimp are scavengers, too, and they taste OK (as long as you pull that disgusting vein out of the back….).
bon appetit!
Dreamy show media maven. Really hot selections today! Did I hear Lefty wretched from ingesting an intact guinea pig? blech… I may have to reevaluate my honorary membership in the Tupac Amaru. Worst thing I ever ate was dog in the Philippines…no, I did not know at the time. Naval humor. haha. Poor pooch.
Hey Rynski…what are you doing to Lepetit? Force feeding him a diet of Manson…?
Sounds like animal abuse to me. 😉
thanks, radmax!
i do appreciate your continued support, input – and esp. the compliments! hahahah.
don’t know if i could eat dog…that goes in the cavy category.
thanks for your concern for LePetit, but i’ve tried to talk him into more suitable song suggestions but he just won’t budge, the little rat. he starts jammin’ to that acoustic guitar like there’s no tomorrow…
