Slide show: San Diego A to Z

Photos are part of the fun of getting away, preserving the memories forever – or at least until your computer goes haywire and deletes them all.

Since TC.com just implemented a new slide show feature, let’s go through the alphabet and check out some pix of San Diego.

Which photo is your favorite?

Would you stay at the freaky motel that looks like Norman Bates lives there?

Mornin’ Rynski!…so that’s how you got your boyfriend to travel with the pooches… 🙂 I think my favorite is the one of Sawyer close-up, or scofflaw Phoebe’s total disregard for doggie laws.

Mornin’ RadMax! – hahah – yes, the secret travel arrangements are out – boyfriend rode in the trunk while sawyer hogged the passenger seat. I like phoebe’s disregard of the doggie laws, too.

You know I would be attracted to “Nevermore.” You have to be in the right place at the right moment to capture the perfect message shot. “Vertigo” and “Zeal” are high up on my list. Tell more about the haunted hotel. Was their a legend attached or a tour? Did you have to lift Sawyer through the window?

hahaha! No dogs on the haunted house tour but yes, Sawyer would have been totally freaking out with the ghosts, as he did when we lived in the haunted oregon farmhouse. the house is the most haunted because it has had the most ghost and otherworldly sightings. in addition to the orb in the tree, i got some wispy stuff in one of the kid’s rooms and my camera went totally black after the wispy shots. the house is old and at least two people died there: a kid who ate a cake of ant poison when she thought it was a cookie and one of the whaley parents’ daugthers, who threw herself out that back window to the left of the orb. the whaley couple haunt the place too. it was also the site of hangings. here’s more at the site: whaleyhouse.org.
we had a guided tour by a gal who said she couldn’t play the pipe organ.

Sorry about the homophonal error for “there” in my last message. That’s what happens when you’re out of the classroom too long.
You’re lucky about the guide’s inability to play the pipe organ. She would be destined for the trunk with that performance. I bet it was an interesting tour. Are you a believer?

a believer in pipe organs? or ghosts?
i definitely believe in ghosts…prefer accordions over pipe organs…and pipe organs over bag pipes…

Cool slideshow Rynski! A tough choice to choose a fav…but the one with the man in the trunk made me laugh, so I guess that would have to be my choice, haha. What was he doing in there anyway?! (Do I even want to know? =P )

The picture of the Whaley House complete w/ orb reminds me of some friends I have in New Mexico (yes, in Capitan!) who are completely obsessed with orbs. They are constantly taking pictures of dark places and assuming that every little blur and/or dot in the picture is an orb. I’m pretty sure they were capturing dust particles…but HEY! I could be wrong! Who knows what creepy things are out there!?

Seems like you guys had a great time on vacation. Welcome home! =)

thanks jennatoolz! the trunk photo is quite tame, actually. beau thought he was doing me a favor by reconnecting a loose wire he spied in the trunk. i then had to tell him that wire made the TRUNK OPEN LIGHT stay on and beep incessantly. so he had to crawl inside and try to disconnect the wire he had reconnected.
i love orbs, too. yes, some could be dust, but others i would def. say are otherworldly things. the whaley one was bright orange, although it looks somewhat dulled in the photo. we also captured tons of orbs above a nearby graveyard and one floating down the whaley house staircase.
thanks for the welcome back! it was grand.

I’ll have to remember that ploy next time I want to lure someone into my trunk. Perhaps the accommodations were more comfortable there than on the motel chair.
Or perhaps he was just following the orbs?

I like San Diego and I like your pictures.  Mission Beach is probably my favorite area.  It’s just seedy enough.  Of course, my number one California attraction has to be Venice Beach.  It is my goal in life to grow some dreads, sit on a rug on the boardwalk, teach my chickens to accept dollar bills from passing strangers and bring them to me.

I saw a guy with a dog and a chicken in old town. Pretty cool tricks, he wound up with a fiver from us. Was that you Lefty…?

what a wonderful plan! my ultimate goal is to draw pictures all day and then run through the fields barefoot. not sure where yet, but somewhere where there all no goatheads. my bro lived in mission beach – visited him there last year – yes, it was cool. the people were so nice i wanted to cry.

Don’t feed the seagulls, they’ll poop in your dinner. I speak from experience.

Seagulls tend to have a liberal orientation, Mark; always crapping on your party.

I was drawn to the picture of the missing children. I can only imagine their loved ones pain. Hopefully most are runaways, still alive, and will go home soon!

Also loved the one, ‘quality time’ and ‘zeal’. I have yet to meet Sawyer, but I already love that guy!

Of course, you can never have to many hot guys in your trunk!

Yes – Men be warned: if a red-head with glasses asks you to help her put something in her trunk, run the other way.

I used to own a condo at a place named Ebb Tide – it looked very similar.  It was tiny, but very close to the beach and the only place I could afford on Siesta Key, FL.

    Hey Ryn,
Great Pics…..loved Vertigo, really cool. When I was looking at the pic I found myself turning my body around to view it from the point it was taken. Much prefer the vertigo feeling.
